Burton ARC GeoCard is found and on the move again- 4th August 2008

Burton ARC has a GeoCard, it was placed in the cache at Waterloo Mount with a dog bone insulator attached to it. Since being placed in the cashe nothing has been seen of it since. Today we had a posting on the Bravenet Map to say it had been found at Foremark Resiviour and that it would be moved on. So it is still out there and on its merry way to another site.

Our thanks to the partisipant that reported it.

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache. More information at - http://www.geocaching.com

A kind donation by G7PAL, Bruce gets burton ARC a new mast - 15th July 2008

Burton ARC are proud owners of a new heavy duty mast. Bruce kindly donated some funds and with a little extra help from club funds we were able to purchase a new heavy duty telescopic mast.

The club would like to thank Bruce for such a kind gesture.

IPSA Steaming up - 15th July 2008

IPSA is just a few weeks away, we have 7 pumping stations on the air this time, but nothing international.

We have been joined again by some of the stations from last year and some new ones. The certificate for contacting 5 stations will now be available as we have over 5 stations and this was the qualifying point.

We wish all the stations involved a successful day.
