Constitution of Burton-upon-Trent Amateur Radio Club
The ‘Club’ is known as the “Burton-upon-Trent Amateur Radio Club” (1)
The Club has two callsigns associated with it, which will remain within the club should the current licence holder leave. (2)
The aims of the club are to create interest in the general public in order to attract participants and to further the education of such members in all aspects of Amateur Radio in all its forms, and to promote experimentation, (within the limits of the law).
Participants, open to anyone interested enough to attend gatherings.
There is an Annual membership fee of £12 with, a discretionary fee of £6.00 for the unemployed or pensioners. There is a voluntary meeting subscription of £2 for attending. There is a membership requirement for the Stapenhill Institute.
Whatever monies are collected will immediately be used to pay any debt of the club that requires to be paid.
Any monies remaining will be retained by the Treasurer and used for any other liabilities or purchases of the club.
The club will be affiliated to the Radio Society of Great Britain.
The Officers of the ‘Club’ are limited to a Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Technical Manager, a Lead Instructor and a Custodian of Artefacts .
All officers will be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
In the event of “non attendance”, any one of the officers will stand in for the absentee, or another attendee may be co-opted to take the place.
A quorum for a committee shall be Three
The officers of the club will form a Committee, which will meet as and when business requires. Minutes of these meetings will be kept, which will include a register of attendees, items discussed and decisions taken.
The Committee will have the power to co-opt additional members for specific roles. These co-opted members will have the same speaking and voting rights as elected officers and will be counted as part of the required quorum.
Any ordinary general meeting of members held will be informal and “open”. Any discussions and voting that may take place will include all assembled. Notes of these meetings will be kept, which will include a register of attendees, items discussed and suggestions made. These notes shall be lodged with the Secretary. Any suggestions made at an Ordinary General Meeting are not binding on the committee or the club, unless made and agreed at an Extraordinary General Meeting.
The Club has postal address (3), club “shack” and venue for meetings at the Stapenhill Institute. There is a permanent “web site” (4).
Meetings will take place on the Wednesday of every week (Excluding Bank holidays) at Stapenhill Institute, Burton-upon- Trent commencing at 19:30.
The “Annual General Meeting” will be a formal meeting and will take place only to hear minutes of the last AGM or EGM, elect the aforementioned “Officers”, give account of finances and a general report on the standing of the ‘Club’ at that point in time and confirm or change this Constitution.
The details of date, time and venue of the Annual General Meeting be posted on the Club website not less than 28 days prior.
Extraordinary General Meetings will be a formal meeting and may take place from time to time as required. The details of date, time and venue will be posted on the Club website no less than 7 days prior.
Amendments to the “Constitution” may take place only at the AGM or an EGM
Should the ‘Club’ “fail” then it will be “Wound Up” at either an AGM or an EGM. Any assets of the club remaining will be distributed to current members by agreement or ballot.
