Hello Fellow Radio Enthusiast
Just a few words from the Chairman (G0AOD Dave)
I am very pleased to see that the Burton Amateur Radio Club thriving again. Hopefully it will continue to grow. The only thing that makes a club a success is the membership. There is no other magic formula, in other words you only get out what you put in. We are still looking for a suitable clubroom to hold our meetings and have a radio shack and place to teach.
Now the club has been running again for some time and with great success especially in some contest, also special event stations at various locations around the area. We also have some very active SOTA members in the club. They climb mountains and then set up a radio station on the top. There are many aspects to the hobby and we will try to accommodate all. Some of the members that I have known for a long time have a wealth of knowledge to share and advise the newer licence holders and I’m sure will only be to pleased to assist.
If you are not involved with Ham Radio at the moment but are thinking of taking up the hobby come up and see us as new blood is always welcome this goes for old and new faces in the Burton area.
The club is affiliate to the R.S.G.B. This let the club enter into the contests which are held all year round and are great fun, and a good opportunity for the club to bond and with some luck win some awards for the club. We will be putting on J.O.T.A. which more details are on this site for time and place, J.O.T.A. Stands for jamboree on the air, and it is a special event weekend when stations are put on around the world for scouts to make contact with each other using ham radio. Other special events are in the pipeline and will be displayed on this web site when arranged. If you are a local Burton organisation looking at our site and think you would like a radio demonstration at your function then please get in contact with us.
I think that’s enough waffle from me so as us hams say
